Chinese Court Freezes $318 Million in Nexperia Assets

The seizure follows a lawsuit filed by Wingtech in May, in which the parent company claims Nexperia facilitated discriminatory restrictive measures imposed by the Dutch government. Wingtech is seeking at least 8 billion yuan in damages, alleging these policies triggered substantial financial losses for the firm. The assets were secured by court order between August 20 and August 25.

This legal friction stems from the Dutch government’s decision last year to grant itself authority to block or reverse Nexperia’s corporate actions. Officials in the Netherlands cited the need to protect critical technological capabilities for European economic security. Beijing initially retaliated with export restrictions on Nexperia’s Chinese-made components, though those measures were later eased following high-level diplomatic discussions. Shares of Shanghai-listed Wingtech fell 3.1% to 18.53 yuan following the announcement, as the company acknowledged that the ultimate financial impact of the ongoing litigation remains unpredictable.
