The event, held at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center, focuses on the theme of accelerating progress and expanding access to treatment. By bringing together Harvard Medical School faculty, clinicians, and patient advocates, organizers intend to move beyond isolated specialty care. The program covers a broad spectrum of health concerns, including metabolic and reproductive health, mental wellness, and the evolving use of GLP-1 medications.
Central to the discussion is the international transition from the traditional name, PCOS, to polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS). Sasha Ottey, founder of PCOS Challenge, noted that the organization aims to dismantle the silos that currently force patients to piece together their own treatment plans. Dr. Skand Shekhar, co-director of the PMOS program at the Fish Center for Women’s Health, emphasized that addressing the condition requires integrating clinical research with the lived experiences of patients.
