Developing the project since 2018, Lea designed the series to trace a path from harmony to fracture and finally, renewal. Each of the four pieces—True Vine, Light in the Darkness, Apocalypse, and Glory—comprises seven vertically spaced panels. By integrating LED illumination with layered pigments and raw minerals, the artist creates shifting surfaces that react to the movement of visitors through the space. The installation avoids literal symbols in favor of an abstract, immersive visual language.

Laurie Lea Brings 'Kingdom Works' to Venice Biennale Fringe
An emerald ring of radiant light now anchors Room 11D at Venice’s Palazzo Mora, serving as the climax of Laurie Lea’s latest installation. Part of the Personal Structures – Confluences exhibition, the four-part series explores the intersection of spiritual narrative, mineral pigments, and light-refracting glass.
Lea’s work aligns with her broader practice of creating "sacramental art" intended to foster deep connection. Her participation in the European Cultural Centre’s exhibition places her alongside a global cohort of artists examining how cultural and artistic practices intersect. Currently, the artist holds multiple accolades, including the Gottlieb Foundation Grant and a MacDowell Colony Fellowship, with her work represented in numerous public and private collections. The exhibition remains open to the public at Palazzo Mora until November 22, 2026.
