Sharon Duez Shaw Appointed Head of Claims at Pharmacists Mutual

Shaw joins the Algona-based insurer following a career in specialty insurance, most recently serving as Chief Claims Officer at Vela Insurance. Her background includes 14 years in executive leadership at AXIS Capital, where she managed global claims strategy and North American operations. She holds a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

At Pharmacists Mutual, Shaw is tasked with driving the company’s efforts to modernize litigation strategy and enhance cross-functional collaboration between underwriting, actuarial, and finance departments. This appointment aligns with the group’s broader strategy to bolster its position as a specialty underwriting provider for the allied healthcare sector. Lambert will remain through the end of March 2027 to ensure continuity for agents and insured clients.
