Evotec and Plectonic Partner to Tackle Solid Tumors with Logic-Gated T-Cell Therapy

The partnership focuses on integrating Plectonic’s LOGIBODY technology with Evotec’s BiTco platform to create a more selective immune response. LOGIBODY utilizes DNA-protein therapeutics that require simultaneous binding to multiple tumor-associated antigens, a "logic-gated" mechanism designed to reduce activation in healthy tissues. This precision is intended to work in tandem with Evotec’s BiTco, a non-blocking CD2 antibody that provides essential costimulatory signals to T cells, helping to maintain their activity and delay exhaustion within the harsh tumor microenvironment.

Dr. Cord Dohrmann, Chief Scientific Officer of Evotec, emphasized that while T-cell engagers have succeeded in blood cancers, they have struggled to penetrate solid tumor indications. This collaboration seeks to generate preclinical proof-of-concept data to validate whether the combined technology can broaden the therapeutic window for patients. Plectonic CEO Klaus Wagenbauer noted that the modularity of their LOGIBODY design allows for highly controlled immune activation, addressing long-standing safety hurdles that have previously hampered the development of these therapies in solid tumor settings.
