The new Eyesafe HT Privacy technology claims to resolve the industry-standard trade-off by delivering approximately 12% higher light transmission than traditional privacy films. Internal laboratory testing across various smartphones and reference displays showed the new material achieving 74–75% light transmission, compared to the 66.3% typical of standard privacy filters, all while preventing visible color shifts.

Eyesafe Debuts High-Transmission Privacy Screens and Universal Cuts at IFA
Privacy filters have long forced a compromise between screen security and display brightness, but a new technology aims to reclaim that lost light. At IFA 2026, Minneapolis-based Eyesafe unveiled a high-transmission privacy film and an on-demand cutting platform designed to simplify inventory for retailers and device manufacturers alike.

"Privacy screens have historically asked people to give up part of the display experience," said Justin Barrett, CEO of Eyesafe. The company’s second announcement, Eyesafe Universal, targets the logistical overhead of screen protection. By replacing pre-cut inventory with an on-demand precision-cutting platform, retailers can generate screen protectors for nearly any device model, including those released after the film stock is manufactured. The film includes integrated light-management technology, touch sensitivity, and a self-healing surface. Volume production for the Universal platform is set to scale throughout 2027, with both technologies currently being demonstrated to partners at the Berlin trade show.
