Teamsters Halt Operations at Amazon’s Largest Warehouse
Workers at Amazon’s DJT6 facility in Riverside, California, walked off the job today in a one-day unfair labor practice strike. Members of Teamsters Local 1932 launched the action to protest alleged illegal intimidation and the company's refusal to bargain following the warehouse's unionization last December.
Randy Korgan, Director of the Teamsters Amazon Division, stated that the company has ignored legal obligations for too long. The protest follows a recent National Labor Relations Board development where Amazon conceded that it would cease retaliation against employees exercising their right to strike. Emmanuel Cadena, a worker at the DJT6 site, emphasized that the walkout is a response to the company’s refusal to address demands for safer working conditions and improved pay. The union currently represents over 1.3 million members across North America.
