Dell’s performance stood as a singular bright spot, with order volume nearly doubling by the end of the second quarter and far exceeding market expectations. This surge in infrastructure demand failed to lift the tide for other firms, however. Palantir shares experienced a sharp decline following the appointment of American International Group executive chairman Peter Zaffino as the company’s new global head of financial services.

Corporate consolidation remains a dominant theme. Cybersecurity firm Varonis Systems is currently engaged in acquisition talks with Thoma Bravo-backed Proofpoint. Meanwhile, the food-delivery landscape faces a major shift: Delivery Hero’s board has officially endorsed a $14.8 billion takeover bid from Uber Technologies, urging shareholders to approve the merger. Uber’s expansion plans arrive alongside internal restructuring, as the ride-hailing giant confirmed a workforce reduction affecting thousands of employees.
