TikTok Expands Comment Section With Voice and Interactive Media

Users can now record audio messages up to one minute long by tapping a microphone icon, bringing a new layer of sound-based engagement to the platform. A spokesperson confirmed these audio entries remain subject to standard Community Guidelines, with the company deploying a mix of automated speech-to-text transcription and human moderation to police potential violations. The feature is currently rolling out globally to users aged 18 and older over the coming month.

Beyond voice, the update empowers creators to host polls directly within their video comments. These polls allow for up to five customizable options, providing a direct mechanism for audience input on everything from future content ideas to daily decisions. Visual expression is also seeing a significant boost: users can now upload carousels of up to nine photos in a single comment, alongside Live Photos that capture brief bursts of motion to provide a preview of the full image. While Live Photo support is available immediately, the photo carousel update will reach the global user base over the next few weeks.
