Guangzhou-based Yatsen Group has released its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance report, outlining a pivot toward research-heavy innovation and carbon reduction. The beauty conglomerate, which owns brands like Perfect Diary and EVE LOM, is linking its commercial viability to a mandate for sustainable manufacturing and internal data security.

The company’s R&D expenditure reached RMB 137 million in 2025, accounting for 3.2% of its total revenue. This investment supported 153 personnel and resulted in 269 patent applications. The group's commitment to scientific rigor was highlighted by the presentation of 11 research papers at the 35th IFSCC Congress, a significant increase from the previous year. Technical milestones include the refinement of proprietary delivery systems and bio-film technologies used across its prestige and clinical skincare portfolios.

Environmental initiatives focused on supply chain decarbonization and packaging waste. Yatsen reported a 35.74% year-over-year reduction in direct operational greenhouse gas emissions, bolstered by a 41% renewable energy utilization rate at its primary manufacturing hub. Furthermore, the company tightened its corporate governance, achieving Level III Cybersecurity Certification and maintaining a clean record regarding data privacy complaints and ethical violations. With a workforce that is 77% female, the group is now scaling social impact programs, including digital literacy initiatives and philanthropic donations totaling RMB 1.5 million.
