Kali Therapeutics Clears FDA Hurdle for Autoimmune Drug KT501
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared Kali Therapeutics to begin clinical testing of KT501, a tri-specific T-cell engager designed to treat B cell–mediated autoimmune diseases. The green light allows the San Mateo-based firm to transition its research into the United States following promising initial results from trials in Australia.

The IND clearance relies on data from an ongoing Phase 1a study in Australia, where the drug is being tested on adults with rheumatoid arthritis. Weihao Xu, CEO and founder of Kali Therapeutics, noted that the approval validates the company's ability to decouple potency from toxicity. The program is currently operating under a worldwide exclusive licensing agreement with Sanofi, established in March 2026.
