George Papanier Returns as Bally's Interim CFO

Bally’s is reshuffling its executive suite again, appointing company president George Papanier as interim chief financial officer effective September 4. He steps into the role as current CFO Mira Mircheva prepares to depart the gaming operator for personal reasons, ending her tenure after a short transition period lasting through the end of September.

George Papanier Returns as Bally's Interim CFO

Papanier brings significant institutional knowledge to the position, having previously served as the company’s interim CFO in 2023. Beyond his new financial oversight duties, he will maintain his current responsibilities as president of land-based casino operations and retain his seat on the board of directors. Papanier’s history with the firm dates back to 2004, when he originally joined as chief operating officer, followed by a decade-long stint as president and CEO from 2011 to 2021.

Mircheva’s exit triggers a formal search for a permanent successor. While she steps down from her executive vice president and CFO roles on September 4, she remains with the organization until September 30 to assist with the leadership handoff. The board has already commenced the process of identifying a long-term replacement to stabilize the financial leadership team.
