Carestream Upgrades DRX-LC Detector for Single-Shot Imaging

Radiographers can now perform long-bone and spine exams in a single exposure as Carestream Healthcare International rolls out an enhanced version of its DRX-LC detector. The updated system integrates AI-driven noise reduction and automated exposure controls to streamline clinical workflows while reducing the need for traditional image stitching.

Carestream Upgrades DRX-LC Detector for Single-Shot Imaging

The new DRX-LC iteration addresses the common complexities of long-length imaging, which historically required multiple exposures and time-consuming manual stitching. By capturing the entire anatomical area in one shot, the device reduces patient hold times and minimizes the frequency of retakes.

Technological improvements center on two primary features: Detector Exposure Control (DEC) and Smart Noise Cancellation (SNC). The former automatically adjusts imaging parameters to ensure consistent exposure levels, while the latter utilizes artificial intelligence to clarify images by filtering noise without sacrificing fine detail. Marco Riolfo, product line manager at Carestream, noted that these additions are intended to bolster diagnostic confidence by prioritizing both consistency and dose efficiency. Designed for versatility, the hardware maintains compatibility across various environments, including dedicated radiology rooms, mobile diagnostic units, and surgical settings.
