Aurzen Merges Portable Projection with Basquiat’s Visual Language

Irvine-based projection manufacturer Aurzen is pivoting toward artistic collaboration with the launch of “Unfold the Art,” a creative initiative debuting a collection inspired by the raw, layered aesthetic of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The project aims to integrate the artist’s iconic visual energy into the company’s existing line of portable smart projectors.

The brand intends for this collaboration to move beyond traditional hardware marketing, framing its portable devices as expressive elements of home decor rather than purely functional tools. By merging Aurzen’s minimalist engineering with Basquiat’s hallmark use of symbols, pictograms, and urban grit, the company is positioning its technology as a bridge between high-end design and everyday living environments.

Jason Zhang, Aurzen’s Senior Director of Product, noted that the collection reflects a desire to make projection technology feel more culturally resonant. The project is supported by Artestar, the global licensing agency responsible for managing the Basquiat estate’s brand partnerships. Moving forward, Aurzen plans to use this foundation to develop a long-term platform that explores how visual arts can influence the way personal technology is perceived and used within the home.
