Khanna believes this public exhaustion is the only force currently keeping the conflict from spiraling into a permanent military engagement.

Reports suggest that White House aides are attempting to minimize the war’s visibility until after the elections to protect Republican support. Khanna warns that once the threat of voter accountability is removed, the administration may feel emboldened to escalate operations. To counter this, he is seeking an unconventional coalition with Republicans, including Rep. Thomas Massie, to enforce congressional authority. While Congress has previously passed war powers resolutions directing the president to halt unauthorized hostilities, the administration has dismissed these measures as non-binding. Further legislative efforts, including a resolution by Rep. Gregory Meeks and various funding-restriction bills, remain pending as lawmakers struggle to check the executive branch's military agenda.
