Sharjah Communication Awards Pivot Toward Artificial Intelligence

With over 2,600 submissions recorded last year, the Sharjah Government Communication Award has launched its 13th edition, officially prioritizing artificial intelligence. Organizations worldwide have until September 22, 2026, to showcase how machine learning and algorithmic tools are reshaping public sector engagement and institutional outreach.

Sharjah Communication Awards Pivot Toward Artificial Intelligence

The Sharjah Government Media Bureau is steering the competition toward measurable impact, rewarding entries that demonstrate tangible results rather than mere visibility. For the first time, a dedicated category recognizes the Best Use of Artificial Intelligence in Government and Institutional Communication. Beyond this specific honor, judges will award up to 10 percent in additional points to any project across the 35 available categories that successfully integrates AI to improve audience understanding or communication efficiency.

This shift reflects an evolution from past entries, which previously highlighted diverse global initiatives like Tuvalu’s digital nation project and cross-continental expert networks. While the award continues to honor individual achievements and private sector innovation, the focus remains on the sustainability of communication efforts. Alongside the tech-centric updates, the organizers have introduced a category for the Best Campaigns Promoting Emirati Identity, further grounding the international competition in regional cultural objectives.
