Tourmaline Oil Sells Topaz Energy Stake to Fund Western Canada Expansion

Tourmaline Oil has offloaded a 2% stake in Topaz Energy, shedding 3.6 million shares to bankroll a pair of strategic acquisitions in Western Canada. The move allows the natural-gas producer to consolidate its infrastructure and drilling inventories across the British Columbia Montney and Alberta Deep Basin complexes.

Tourmaline Oil Sells Topaz Energy Stake to Fund Western Canada Expansion

While Tourmaline refrained from disclosing the exact transaction price, the divested block holds a market value of approximately 114.1 million Canadian dollars based on Topaz's recent closing price of 31.71 Canadian dollars. This divestment leaves Tourmaline with a remaining 12.9% interest in Topaz, an asset the company intends to maintain for investment purposes.

The capital injection supports Tourmaline’s broader effort to tighten its grip on regional production assets. By streamlining its holdings in the Deep Basin and Montney regions, the company aims to optimize future drilling potential and leverage existing infrastructure more efficiently.
