The acquisition integrates Optery’s scanning technology and screenshot reporting into the broader Surfshark ecosystem, which already includes Incogni, Ironwall, and HeyPolo. Despite the change in ownership, Optery will retain its autonomous structure, maintaining separate technical architectures and client bases alongside its new sister brands.

Surfshark Acquires Optery to Bolster Personal Data Removal Services
Cybersecurity firm Surfshark has acquired a majority stake in Optery, a US-based specialist in scrubbing personal information from data brokers and search engines. The move marks a strategic effort to consolidate privacy tools as the group seeks to counter the rising risks of AI-driven data exploitation.

Vytautas Kaziukonis, founder and chairman of Surfshark, stated the partnership aims to expand personal data protection capabilities. For Optery CEO Lawrence Gentilello, the deal provides a platform to scale defenses against physical and cyber threats stemming from exposed personal information. This is the second major acquisition for the group since it purchased Ironwall in 2024 to serve public sector and executive clients. By combining Incogni’s global reach with Optery’s deep expertise in the US market, the company intends to target the root causes of digital scams and unauthorized data monetization.
