ASUR Reports Mixed August Traffic as Regional Disparities Persist

The company’s August performance highlights a fragmented recovery across its core markets. In Mexico, total passenger counts fell by 4.0%, driven largely by a sharp 13.6% drop in international traffic, even as domestic travel saw a modest rise of 4.1%. Puerto Rico followed a similar downward trajectory, with the San Juan airport recording a 5.1% decrease in total passengers, affecting both domestic and international segments.

Colombia remains the outlier in the portfolio, bolstered by a 5.8% surge in domestic travel at sites like the Rionegro airport. These figures arrive just as the airport operator moves to scale its footprint significantly. On September 1, the company finalized the acquisition of Motiva Airports, a deal that adds 20 new locations across Brazil, Costa Rica, Curaçao, and Ecuador to its network. Starting with the September report, these additional assets will be integrated into the firm's monthly traffic disclosures.
