The funding marks the largest Series C round ever raised by a European space firm, signaling a shift in investor appetite for sovereign space infrastructure. Led by Hélène Huby, a veteran of Airbus and ArianeGroup, the company is positioning its Nyx reusable capsule as a direct competitor to SpaceX’s Dragon. The firm has already secured over $2 billion in contracts and commitments, including support from NASA and the European Space Agency, with ten missions currently on the books.
Huby’s strategy hinges on a pragmatic, high-cadence development cycle. The company aims to dock the Nyx capsule with the International Space Station by November 2028. Beyond the capsule, the Series C funds will accelerate the development of the Storm rocket engine, which utilizes full-flow stage combustion. While German startup Isar Aerospace recently reached a launch milestone, TEC is targeting a larger, heavy-lift class of vehicle to meet the projected surge in space-based data center and broadband infrastructure needs.
