Matsumoto Inc. Trims Quarterly Losses Amid Revenue Stagnation

Matsumoto Inc. reported a net loss of 100 million yen for the first quarter ending July 31, narrowing its deficit compared to the 136 million yen loss recorded during the same period last year. Despite the improved bottom line, the company continues to grapple with stagnant top-line performance across its operations.

Revenue for the three-month period reached 380 million yen, a marginal decline from the 382 million yen generated a year prior. While the company succeeded in reducing its operating loss to 96 million yen from the previous 139 million yen, broader profitability remains elusive under current market conditions.

Pretax profit mirrored these trends, settling at a loss of 99 million yen compared to the 134 million yen loss in 2025. Diluted earnings per share improved to a loss of 88.60 yen from 120.31 yen. The firm confirmed no dividend payouts for the quarter and has maintained a nil forecast for year-end distributions, reflecting the ongoing pressure on its financial reserves.
