TAT Technologies Joins Beyond Aero to Develop Hydrogen-Electric Jet

A nascent collaboration between TAT Technologies and French startup Beyond Aero aims to solve the thermal challenges of zero-emission flight. By integrating the Universal Cooling System into the ONE aircraft, the partners are working to stabilize fuel-cell propulsion for a business jet capable of traveling 800 nautical miles.

Beyond Aero, founded in 2020, is currently building a clean-sheet architecture designed to bypass the range limitations of traditional battery-powered aviation. The company’s ONE aircraft utilizes hydrogen-electric propulsion, a configuration that requires precise thermal management to operate effectively. By tapping into TAT Technologies’ existing Universal Cooling System (UCS), engineers hope to meet the stringent weight and performance benchmarks necessary for next-generation flight.

Igal Zamir, CEO of TAT Technologies, noted that the flexibility of the UCS platform is critical for emerging hydrogen frameworks. Yannick Schwartzenbart, head of industrialization at Beyond Aero, described the partnership as a vital move to stabilize their supply chain and technical architecture. With a team of over 80 engineers spanning Toulouse, Paris, and Los Angeles, Beyond Aero is positioning its hydrogen-electric project as a viable path to decarbonizing the high-end business aviation sector.
