fal Acquires Creative Agent Platform Lucent

With over 30,000 users gained within months of its late 2025 launch, Lucent carved a niche in the high-stakes world of generative advertising. Now, the San Francisco-based platform fal has acquired the startup, bringing co-founders Dimi Panagiotopoulos and Alex Koumpas in-house to bolster its own generative media infrastructure.

fal Acquires Creative Agent Platform Lucent

Lucent distinguished itself by shifting the creative workflow away from manual tool-based editing toward agentic orchestration. Instead of requiring users to operate individual canvas tools, the platform allowed creators to issue plain-language briefs, leaving the underlying models and brand rule-sets to be managed by the system. This approach resonated quickly with the market, with 16,000 creators generating 75,000 assets in just three weeks after the tool's debut.

Panagiotopoulos, a former engineer for Formula 1 energy optimization algorithms, and Koumpas, who previously sold an AI-driven quantitative trading startup, join fal at a time when the company is shifting its focus from raw model generation to end-to-end output orchestration. Burkay Gur, CEO of fal, noted that the pair’s ability to navigate the demanding requirements of the advertising sector made them a strategic addition. As generative quality becomes a commodity across the industry, fal aims to capture value by refining how AI models are managed and directed throughout the creative process. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
