The Poisoner brings Flint-inspired thriller to Pennsylvania stages
A neo-noir thriller inspired by the Flint water crisis is launching a seven-city national tour, with Pennsylvania as its opening stage. The production, directed by Lee Sunday Evans, intends to use the theatre as a public square, pairing performances in Bethlehem and Pittsburgh with discussions on local environmental accountability.
In Bethlehem, the play runs at the Touchstone Theatre from September 17–19. Post-show discussions will highlight local issues, including the proposed Atlas data center in South Whitehall. The tour then moves to Pittsburgh’s Alumni Theater from September 24–26, where activists from Pittsburgh United and Clean Water Action will lead dialogues on the city’s own history of water safety and lead contamination. These sessions are intended to move beyond standard panel discussions, creating a space for residents to connect their personal experiences with systemic environmental challenges.
