OCEAN Mining Pool Clears SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 Audits

Bitcoin mining pool operator OCEAN has secured SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2 attestations, marking a shift toward formal independent verification in the permissionless mining sector. These reports validate the effectiveness of internal control systems regarding financial reporting, security, and availability of the pool's infrastructure.

The Cheyenne-based company, a subsidiary of Mummolin, Inc., pursued these examinations to offer institutional-grade transparency to its users. By moving beyond the initial Type 1 attestations, OCEAN now provides auditors and finance departments with documented evidence of operational integrity over an extended reporting period.

Chief Financial Officer Nick Watkins emphasized that the move is intended to build trust in mining infrastructure through measurable data. This verification process supports the pool’s core features, including its direct payout model and the DATUM protocol, which allows miners to maintain control over block template construction. Chief Legal and Compliance Officer Ian Northon noted that the milestone bridges the gap between decentralized participation and the rigorous assurance standards typically required by corporate and financial partners. Qualified stakeholders may access the full reports under non-disclosure agreements.
