Unlike standard window covers, the device blocks outside views while utilizing integrated mesh that allows occupants to maintain visibility of their surroundings.
The initiative addresses a critical gap in the support structures available to the unhoused. According to the RAND Corporation’s LA LEADS survey, 11% of unsheltered individuals in key Los Angeles districts rely on vehicles for housing, with privacy consistently ranking as a major factor in how they evaluate safety. While Parked Innovations has reached out to over 26 organizations nationwide, participants can apply for the shields directly through the company’s website without needing their specific program to formally partner with the initiative.
