Seven months after securing its Series C round, marketing software startup Profound has raised $180 million in Series D funding. The injection of capital pushes the firm’s total valuation to $1.8 billion, cementing its position as a major player in the emerging generative engine optimization landscape.

Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins spearheaded the latest investment, joined by returning backers including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, and South Park Commons. Founded just two years ago, the company initially focused on analytics before pivoting to help brands optimize their presence within AI-driven search results. This technology, known as GEO or AEO, is becoming essential as consumer habits shift toward AI systems for product discovery.

The startup’s rapid growth is reflected in its client roster, which has climbed to over 1,000 enterprise customers, including industry giants like Walmart, Comcast, and The Estée Lauder Companies. According to the company, revenue has tripled over the last six months, signaling strong market demand for tools that navigate the intersection of brand visibility and artificial intelligence.
