CDTL Unveils Advanced E-Drive and Braking Tech at IAA Transportation

At IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, CDTL is showcasing a suite of high-performance components designed to reshape heavy-duty logistics and public transit. The company’s latest exhibition focuses on distributed electric drive axles and electromechanical braking systems, technologies already moving from experimental prototypes into large-scale commercial fleet integration.

The centerpiece of the CDTL display is the EA5000NP distributed electric drive axle, a platform already powering over 3,000 vehicles. By utilizing two oil-cooled motors and a two-speed transmission, the system replaces traditional mechanical differentials with independent wheel torque management. This 800 V configuration generates a peak power of 900 kW, providing significant efficiency gains for heavy-duty haulage. For specialized heavy transport, the EA4800N four-speed axle offers a massive 48,000 N•m of torque per axle, scaling up to nearly 100,000 N•m in dual-drive configurations.

Beyond propulsion, CDTL is pushing forward with its EMB electromechanical braking system, which has now entered small-series production. Early vehicle-level testing indicates the system cuts total vehicle weight by more than 100 kg while reducing braking distances by 10%. By slashing braking-system energy consumption by over 85%, the technology addresses a critical bottleneck in electric vehicle range optimization. These components, alongside the company’s drive-by-wire and steer-by-wire solutions, are currently being deployed in public transit systems across Europe and Asia, signaling a shift toward fully intelligent, modular commercial vehicle architectures.
