The study, which followed 61 adolescents and adults, demonstrated that the direct switch to a subcutaneous denecimig pen injector was well-tolerated. Clinical findings showed no unforeseen safety concerns, such as thromboembolic events or hypersensitivity reactions, across all dosing frequencies. Participants maintained thrombin generation within normal physiological ranges throughout the study period, confirming the therapy's ability to support blood clotting function without triggering excessive clotting.
Beyond safety metrics, the study highlighted a significant preference for the new delivery system. Data from the Hemophilia Device Handling and Preference Assessment indicated that 98.3% of patients found the denecimig pen injector easy to use, with 96.6% preferring it over their previous emicizumab vial and syringe administration method. Stephanie Seremetis, Chief Medical Officer for Rare Disease at Novo Nordisk, noted that the results validate the company's design focus on improving the daily administration experience for the hemophilia community.
