Spotify Extends Creator Monetization to 35 New Markets

Spotify is rolling out its podcast partner program to 35 additional regions this fall, marking the streaming service’s most significant geographical expansion to date. Creators in countries ranging from Spain and Italy to Brazil and Mexico will now gain access to revenue-sharing models previously restricted to U.S., Australian, and European markets.

The program allows podcasters to generate income through ad revenue from free listeners and premium subscription impressions on both audio and video content. Notably, Spotify permits creators to distribute their shows across competing platforms while retaining full control over independent sponsorship earnings.

This push follows a 140% surge in video podcast consumption since the feature's 2022 debut, with total payouts to creators rising by one-third since January. To qualify for the program, creators must meet updated benchmarks: three active episodes, 2,000 hours of audience consumption, and 1,000 engaged listeners over a 30-day window. According to the company, these tightened eligibility requirements have boosted engagement in participating shows by an average of 45%.
