Terragrit Secures National Grid Funding for AI-Driven Infrastructure Ops

Utilities are currently navigating the pressure of aging infrastructure and surging demand, leaving little margin for error. To address this, AI simulation platform Terragrit has secured a strategic investment from National Grid Partners, aiming to modernize how energy firms test and implement physical operational changes in real time.

The platform functions as a virtual sandbox, allowing teams to construct working models of their networks. By simulating proposed changes—such as rerouting capacity or upgrading substations—users can evaluate trade-offs in cost, resilience, and sequencing without relying on the long development cycles typical of legacy engineering tools. This approach decentralizes decision-making, moving the capability from isolated specialist teams into the hands of those managing day-to-day operations.

Arun Chetty, VP of Corporate Venture Capital at National Grid Partners, noted that the software allows cross-functional stakeholders to collaborate on a shared canvas, bridging the gap between immediate maintenance tasks and long-term grid evolution. For Terragrit founder and CEO Sam Nagar, the partnership provides more than capital; it offers access to the NextGrid Alliance, a global network of over 170 utility companies. This feedback loop will accelerate product development as the company scales its AI tools to support energy providers serving more than 80 million people across the U.S. and the U.K.
