Insilico Medicine Releases Open-Source AI Toolkit for Longevity Research

Insilico Medicine has unveiled a suite of open-source artificial intelligence tools designed to standardize and accelerate research into the biological mechanisms of aging. Published in the journal Cell, the initiative provides scientists with a benchmark for AI reasoning, specialized language models, and an autonomous platform for identifying therapeutic targets.

The toolkit includes LongevityBench, a rigorous testing framework to evaluate AI performance across clinical, genetic, and proteomic data. Researchers tested 18 frontier AI systems, finding that current large models often struggle with complex biological reasoning. To address this, Insilico developed Longevity-LLMs, a family of compact, domain-specific language models. Despite their smaller size, these models outperformed larger general-purpose systems in identifying biological patterns.

To bridge the gap between theory and discovery, the company introduced Longevity Claw. This agentic platform automates multi-step research workflows, allowing it to synthesize data and prioritize potential longevity interventions. In initial trials, the system nominated 328 candidate genes, showing a 5.6-fold enrichment for biologically relevant targets compared to existing data. By releasing these resources to the global community, Insilico aims to shift longevity research toward measurable, AI-driven foundations, moving beyond the limitations of static aging clocks.
