With over $20 billion in assets under custody, Columbia Private Trust has elevated veteran executive Chris Orr to Senior Vice President and Director of Trust Sales and Strategic Partnerships. Based in San Francisco, Orr will spearhead relationship management and expansion efforts for the bank’s specialized institutional and retail custody division.

Orr’s appointment follows his 17-year tenure within the organization, which originated as PENSCO Trust Company before being integrated into Columbia Bank in 2025. Having previously served as First Vice President of Institutional Sales, Orr brings extensive experience in the specialized custody marketplace, including expertise in self-directed IRAs and alternative asset management. His new role focuses on scaling the division’s reach across its diverse client base.

Tamara Wendoll, Executive Vice President and Senior Director at Columbia Private Trust, noted that Orr’s deep institutional knowledge and long-standing Bay Area connections are vital to the firm’s trajectory. Columbia Bank President Chris Merrywell emphasized that the promotion aligns with the bank’s broader strategy to bolster its wealth management capabilities. As demand for specialized custody solutions rises, the bank intends to leverage Orr’s background to maintain its competitive position in the sector. Orr holds several industry certifications, including the Certified IRA Services Professional designation.
