The movement follows a landmark Senate Special Committee on Aging hearing held just days prior, which exposed systemic gaps in menopause care and training. Organized by Women’s Health Advocates, the National Menopause Foundation, and Perry, the initiative seeks to transition menopause from a private health experience to a national legislative priority. Participants will spend the day meeting with lawmakers to demand policy shifts that address the full spectrum of the menopause journey, rather than treating it as a singular event.

Advocates Launch First Federal Push for Menopause Policy Reform
More than 125 advocates from 29 states are descending on Washington, D.C., this September 22 for the inaugural Perimenopause & Menopause Capitol Hill Day. The coalition aims to secure bipartisan support for federal investments in medical research, provider education, and expanded insurance coverage for the millions of Americans navigating this transition.

A central feature of the event is a noon briefing at the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Industry leaders, including Dr. Sharon Malone of Alloy Health and Dr. Sandra Brooks of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, will present evidence to policymakers regarding the urgent need for clinical standards and workplace support. Liz Powell, founder of Women’s Health Advocates, emphasized that despite 71 million women in the U.S. being impacted by these hormonal changes, federal legislation has yet to address the resulting research and care deficits. By bringing constituents directly to the halls of Congress, the organizers hope to force a tangible move from general awareness to codified federal action.
