Automattic Taps Jeremy Klaperman as Interim CFO Amid Leadership Shakeup

Automattic Taps Jeremy Klaperman as Interim CFO Amid Leadership Shakeup

Mullenweg confirmed the transition in an internal Slack update on Friday, noting that Klaperman is well-acquainted with the position, having filled the role during Davies’s past sabbatical. The company remains in a state of transition as it prepares to appoint a new board of directors, who will eventually lead the search for a permanent financial chief.

Alongside the CFO change, the company has secured a successor for former Chief Legal Officer Andy Missan, who resigned alongside Davies. Both men departed following the disclosure of reciprocal severance agreements signed during the 33-hour window when Mullenweg had temporarily stepped down. Despite the executive exodus, Mullenweg maintained a tone of stability, asserting that the company’s financial position remains secure. With Stephen Wolfram remaining on board as a special advisor, leadership is now pivoting toward the next formal board meeting scheduled for September 23.
