The expansion signals a shift in strategy for the NYSE-listed miner, which is preparing to launch a 45,000-meter surface exploration drilling program before the end of the year. Chief Executive Officer Heather White stated that the company aims to move beyond the footprint of its existing Sunshine Mine, suggesting the asset may represent only a fraction of the district's total geological potential.

Sunshine Silver Mining Expands Idaho Footprint by 60 Percent
Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining has increased its mineral rights holdings in Idaho’s Silver Valley by 14,100 acres, bringing its total consolidated land position to 38,000 acres. The company is now the largest mineral rights holder in a district historically recognized as the most prolific silver-producing region in the United States.

Management has identified three primary zones for initial testing: East Sunshine, Rock Creek, and Pine Creek. East Sunshine remains the highest priority, situated directly along the strike of mineralization currently being mined. The company plans to apply modern geophysical and geochemical techniques to these areas, many of which have seen minimal exploration in recent decades. In tandem with these surface efforts, the firm is finalizing an underground in-fill drilling program, with results from its downshaft operations expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
