Major TV Networks Boycott Trump Coverage Over CNN Exclusion

Bryan Boughton, the Washington bureau chief for Fox News and current chair of the TV press pool, confirmed the move on Monday morning. He stated that the pool will no longer cover events designated for presidential pool access, and no replacement team will be deployed. The action marks an unprecedented display of solidarity among media organizations including ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.

This standoff coincides with a legal challenge initiated by CNN, MS NOW, and Politico. The three outlets are filing a lawsuit in federal district court to contest the administration’s recent decision to revoke their press credentials. The ban followed a social media tirade from the president, during which he accused the organizations of publishing lies. When reporters attempted to enter the White House grounds on Saturday, they were denied access and had their passes confiscated by the Secret Service.

Attorney Ted Boutrous, representing the news organizations, argued that the administration is using credential revocation to intimidate journalists and punish reporting it dislikes. Jameel Jaffer of the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University echoed these concerns, calling the ban a flagrant violation of the First Amendment and an attack on the public's right to independent information.
