ShinyHunters Claims Breach of FBI Personnel and Applicant Databases
The cybercriminal collective ShinyHunters asserts it has compromised FBI servers, exfiltrating sensitive personal details belonging to thousands of agents and job applicants. The group, which published a sample of the stolen records on a dark web portal, is leveraging the sensitive data to demand the removal of official agency reports.
Following the unauthorized access, the FBI’s job application portal and associated sites were taken offline for maintenance. This incident marks the second major compromise of federal law enforcement infrastructure this year, following an earlier breach of systems managing real-time wiretaps. The agency has not yet commented on the scope of the intrusion or the validity of the hackers' claims regarding the stolen terabytes of data.
