North Macedonia Secures Funding for Nation’s Largest Wind Farm
The 131.25 MW first phase of the Štip Wind Farm has reached financial close, marking a pivotal shift for North Macedonia’s energy infrastructure. Developed by Alcazar Energy Partners, the project aims to quadruple the country’s wind capacity and accelerate the transition away from coal-fired power generation through a private offtake framework.
Once completed across its three planned phases, the Štip facility will reach a total capacity of 396 MW. Beyond the immediate generation of clean electricity, the project is designed to provide long-term economic stability to local communities. Kane Xu, Senior Vice President at Envision Energy, noted that the site integrates proven hardware with a robust commercial framework, establishing a template for how renewable developments can improve regional energy resilience and competitiveness.
