Founded in 2022 by Cambridge biochemistry and computer science graduate Dr. Michael Forrest, Biophysical Therapeutics specializes in biophysical modeling. The company, which counts Harvard Medical School’s Professor George Church among its advisors, aims to use the revenue generated from the initial 500-unit production run of its skincare line to subsidize its primary drug development programs. These programs focus on cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and the fundamental mechanics of aging.

The scientific premise behind the brand centers on the observation that species with higher concentrations of the IF1 protein exhibit greater longevity. According to the company, laboratory experiments on mice have demonstrated that increasing the presence of this protein effectively reduces aging markers. By entering the $70 billion anti-aging skincare market, the firm intends to create a self-sustaining financial loop where consumer purchases directly fund clinical research into extending human life expectancy.
