The agreement solidifies a collaboration that began in 2022 with the Husky E-Motion, the industry’s first market-ready electric snow groomer. Following successful deployments in Norway, France, Italy, the UK, and the United States, the companies are now integrating Scania’s Core 800 battery packs into the more powerful Leitwolf E-Motion. These lithium-ion systems, which offer 97 kWh of installed energy, are designed to withstand extreme cold, heavy vibrations, and the steep terrain inherent to mountain operations.

Deep in the Alps and across rugged northern landscapes, the demand for sustainable winter machinery is shifting from prototype to production. Scania and Italian manufacturer Prinoth have formalized a long-term partnership to equip the next generation of electric snow groomers with high-capacity battery power, expanding their reach beyond initial test runs.
Elin Åkerström, Managing Director of Scania Industrial Batteries, noted that the challenge lies in deploying power systems that maintain high performance in harsh, sub-zero environments. Roberto Pegoraro, Head of R&D for Prinoth, cited the reliability of the Scania hardware during rigorous field testing as the primary driver for the expanded partnership. By leveraging modular battery architecture, the manufacturers aim to push electrification deeper into heavy-duty industrial segments, moving away from traditional internal combustion dependencies in sensitive alpine ecosystems.
