The East Building project aims to modernize the hospital’s capacity to treat spinal cord and brain injuries. By adding at least 26 patient rooms, including a specialized 12-room neuromedical unit, the hospital expects to increase its overall inpatient capacity by 13 to 15 percent. Beyond medical housing, the expansion carves out 8,000 square feet for a new Human Movement Lab and dedicated research space to bridge the gap between clinical study and physical therapy.

Craig Hospital Hits Construction Milestone in $100 Million Expansion
A ceremonial steel beam rose above the Englewood campus on September 24, marking the topping-out of a massive expansion project at Craig Hospital. This structural milestone signals the progress of the $100 million Hope & Homecomings campaign, the largest fundraising effort in the facility’s 119-year history of neurorehabilitation.
Jandel Allen-Davis, president and CEO of the hospital, joined staff, patients, and construction teams to commemorate the progress. DPR Construction serves as the general contractor for the site, with architectural design led by Davis Partnership Architects and project management provided by the Cumming Group. This build represents a critical step for the independent, not-for-profit institution, which has earned consistent recognition for its nursing and rehabilitation services over the past three decades.
