Fulcrum Automates Certificate Issuance to Reduce Brokerage Workload

San Francisco insurance technology firm Fulcrum has launched an automated certificate workflow capable of generating endorsement-ready Certificates of Insurance (COIs) in under 60 seconds. By leveraging existing policy data to reconcile coverage requirements, the platform aims to eliminate manual request processing for account managers while mitigating potential E&O risks.

The new workflow functions by reading inbound requests and client contracts to verify coverage against actual policy terms. Unlike traditional tools that merely populate static templates, Fulcrum’s system identifies necessary endorsement forms directly from the policy documents and attaches them automatically. Account managers retain oversight, reviewing each certificate before final issuance, which ensures accuracy while removing the repetitive manual labor typically associated with the task.

Albert Hu, Product Lead at Fulcrum, noted that certificates represent one of the most context-heavy and tedious aspects of policy management. The company built this capability on the foundation of its existing policy checking and proposal generation engines, which already reconcile data across various carriers and lines of business. This integration allows for bulk renewal processing, enabling agencies to reissue entire accounts in a single batch rather than spending weeks on manual updates.

Early adoption by firms such as Foundation Risk Partners (FRP) underscores the shift in operational capacity. Daniel Greene, Midwest Regional Vice President of P&C Operations at FRP, identified the tool as a significant efficiency upgrade for his teams. With Fulcrum now supporting nearly half of the top 50 U.S. insurance brokerages and executing over 2,500 hours of servicing work daily, this latest module is designed to redirect professional time toward high-value client interactions.
