As artificial intelligence reshapes the landscape of digital verification, ID.me is restructuring its leadership to bridge the gap between compliance and product development. The McLean-based identity platform has appointed Susannah Stroud Wright as Chief Legal Officer and Darragh Whelan as Executive Vice President of Engineering to steer its next growth phase.
Whelan joins the company from Mastercard, where he managed a team of over 350 product and data engineers focused on real-time decisioning systems. Before his time at Mastercard, he served as Vice President of Engineering at Chime, leading large-scale organizations through identity management and risk-focused challenges. CEO Blake Hall emphasized that for a platform serving 22 federal agencies and 170 million users, the integration of legal oversight and engineering is no longer optional. By uniting these functions, the company aims to treat compliance as a core product feature rather than a regulatory hurdle.
