Raytheon Secures $20.7 Billion Contract to Ramp Up AMRAAM Production
The Department of War has awarded Raytheon a landmark $20.7 billion contract to accelerate production of its AMRAAM missiles over the next five years. This agreement, central to the Arsenal of Freedom initiative, aims to sustain a minimum annual output of 1,900 units to meet surging global demand.
Currently in its fifth generation, the missile serves as a primary interceptor for 14 different platforms across 44 countries, boasting over 7,000 successful live fires. Beyond domestic production, the company is evaluating international co-production strategies to bolster output. By integrating advanced processors that support agile software updates, the system is designed to remain effective against evolving aerial threats while serving as a backbone for the NASAMS air defense network.
