The new chip replaces traditional resistor-based measurement methods with a proprietary inductor approach. According to internal company evaluations, this shift reduces PCB temperature rise and power loss by roughly 93 percent. By integrating EIS functionality onto a single silicon die, the KA85010UA allows systems to monitor internal battery conditions continuously without needing external, heavy-duty measurement hardware.

Nuvoton Unveils 26-Cell Battery Monitor With Integrated EIS
Nuvoton Technology Corporation Japan is set to ship samples of its KA85010UA battery monitoring IC in January 2027, introducing a specialized chip designed to perform Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) directly within battery management systems to enhance safety and diagnostic precision in electric vehicles and energy storage.
Beyond basic voltage and temperature tracking, the technology provides granular data on State of Health (SOH) and internal temperature. These metrics enable manufacturers to predict battery lifecycles and identify potential cell abnormalities before they escalate. To simplify adoption, Nuvoton is providing end-to-end support, including pre-developed analysis algorithms and integration guidance, aimed at helping engineers shorten development cycles for complex battery diagnostic systems.
