Princeton Review Names Top 2027 Colleges for Value and ROI

The report, now in its 22nd year, analyzed more than 40 data points from surveys of administrators, students, and alumni across 650 institutions. Among the selected schools, 67 are public and 142 are private, with nine institutions identified as tuition-free. Georgia Tech maintains its lead as the top public value college for the third consecutive year, while Princeton University retains the top private spot for the second year running.

Beyond overall value, the rankings break down schools into six additional categories, including financial aid, internship opportunities, and alumni networks. The University of Virginia and Williams College led in financial aid, while MIT stood out for career placement and value for students without demonstrated need. According to Editor-in-Chief Rob Franek, these rankings serve as a critical resource for families navigating high college costs, noting that 93% of respondents in the company's recent survey identified financial aid as a necessary component for enrollment.

Data for the 2027 report reflects the current economic pressure on applicants, showing an average grant of $17,986 for students with need at top public schools, compared to $64,261 at top private institutions. The methodology integrates information from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard to ensure that rankings reflect actual salary and career statistics rather than just institutional prestige.
