DeSimone Consulting Engineering Expands Global Reach with ESS Acquisition

The acquisition, executed through DeSimone’s India subsidiary, unites two firms with a long history of professional collaboration. By folding ESS into its operations, DeSimone aims to streamline its delivery of integrated engineering services—from initial design through to steel fabrication and construction. This transition allows the firm to scale its proprietary FRM process, which utilizes LOD 400 models to bridge the gap between structural engineering and fabrication.

ESS co-founders Arif Qureshi, Akbar Khan, and Aasim Hodekar will transition into leadership roles as DeSimone Principals, overseeing the firm’s expanded footprint in India. According to Qureshi, the merger is a natural progression of a long-standing partnership, enabling both teams to operate as a single, unified entity. For DeSimone, the move provides a robust platform to deploy its multidisciplinary expertise, including façade consulting and forensic advisory services, to meet the rising demand for sophisticated infrastructure solutions across the region. Recent high-profile projects utilizing DeSimone’s integrated approach include the One Times Square Redevelopment and the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music.
