CEO Center Urges Business Leaders to Back Election Integrity

As the 2026 midterm elections approach, The CEO Center at The Conference Board is pressing corporate leaders to actively safeguard electoral processes. The organization argues that stable, transparent, and trusted elections are not merely a democratic necessity but a prerequisite for long-term economic investment and market predictability.

CEO Center Urges Business Leaders to Back Election Integrity

David K. Young, President of The CEO Center, insists that market confidence and electoral integrity are inseparable. According to Young, businesses commit capital and plan for the long term only when they have faith in the consistency of the rule of law and the stability of institutional processes. The push is framed as a matter of corporate stewardship rather than political partisanship, aimed at protecting the foundations of an open economy.

The organization’s guidance encourages leaders to facilitate nonpartisan civic engagement by providing employees with clear, accurate information on voting procedures. Beyond internal engagement, the initiative calls on executives to advocate for secure election infrastructure, respect for lawful outcomes, and support for the local officials who manage the polls. This effort builds on the center's previously released report, 'A Stable Democracy at 250,' which provides a framework for companies to combat misinformation and bolster public trust in election administration.
