Ontario Backs Piramal Pharma’s $5.3 Million Aurora Facility Expansion
A $1.75 million government injection is fueling a broader $5.3 million overhaul at Piramal Pharma Solutions’ Aurora plant, aimed at boosting domestic pharmaceutical manufacturing. The funding, provided through the Life Sciences Scale-Up Fund, secures 183 existing jobs and adds 12 new roles to the site’s workforce.
Peter DeYoung, CEO of Piramal Global Pharma, noted that the project extends beyond manufacturing capacity to include sustainability and site modernization efforts. The provincial support aligns with Ontario’s broader life sciences strategy, which seeks to turn local research into market-ready medical solutions. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, emphasized that the investment serves to solidify the province’s reputation as a competitive hub for biomanufacturing. The Life Sciences Scale-Up Fund, which received an additional $24 million boost in the 2026 budget, remains a central pillar in the government’s plan to foster domestic healthcare innovation.
